Congratulations to Sabrina Voeller and Roxy for qualifying for the 2010 SAHJA Medal Finals!! The Medal Finals were held on June 25-27th at Brookside Equestrian Park in Elk Grove, California. Sabrina competed in the following classes: Short stirrup Hunters U/S (she placed 2nd), Short stirrup Eq. Flat (she placed 4th), Short stirrup Hunters 2′ (she placed 3rd), Short stirrup Eq. Over 2′ (she placed 2nd) and SAHJA Pony Medal Finals 2′3″ (she placed 8th). AWESOME job Sabrina & Roxy, everyone at Equine Unlimited is very proud of you!!
Several riders from Equine Unlimited Inc. attended the Let’s Show Beach Party at Brookside, June 10th- 13th. Despite the windy conditions everyone had a great time and did really well. Here are some pictures from the show.

Many ribbons were handed out to riders from Equine Unlimited Inc. at the local SAHJA Star I – Spring Celebration on May 8, 2010 at Starr Vaughn Equestrian Center in Elk Grove, California.
It was a fun day from beginning to end. Below are a few pictures from the show. More pictures are posted in the Picture Gallery.
Once you and your trainer have decided that you are ready to attend a horse show, it’s important to plan ahead for the big day. Below is a partial list of what needs to be done, items to bring, and what to expect the day of the show.
- Bathe your horse one day before the show
- Completely wash the horse’s entire body, mane and tail.
- Apply a product such as “Show Sheen” for extra gloss. Do not spray Show Sheen on the ponies back where the saddle will be placed. Show Sheen is very slippery and the saddle may slide.
- Place your horse in a stall to stay clean.
- Oil/polish/organize all tack and place in the horse trailer
- Saddle
- Saddle Pad
- Girth
- Bridle
- Martingale (for jumping classes only)
- Extra items that you might need to bring along:
- Lunge line
- Two buckets with snaps
- Halter/lead rope
- Hay bag with hay
- Grooming bag complete with hoof oil, various brushes, hoof pick, two rags, a bottle of water, sunscreen, chap stick, saddle tight, money for snacks, fly spray and camera
- Spurs
- Crop
- Registration form
- Your checkbook – you will need to leave an open check with the show office.
- Water and snacks
- A change of clothes and shoes
- Make sure all riding attire is clean and ready to go
- Breeches/Jods (jods are for younger children not yet wearing tall boots)
- Shirt/rat catcher
- Jacket
- Tall boots (or jod straps for younger children wearing jods)
- Helmet
- Hair net/hair band
- Tie (for boys)
- Leather gloves
- Miscellaneous expenses:
- Lease of an Equine Unlimited pony or horse

- Lunge your horse for 15 minutes to burn off extra energy
- Tack up your horse
- Head to the warm up arena 20-30 minutes before the first class begins

- Make sure your trainer is aware of each class that you are riding in and the class time. Your trainer will need to be on the rail for safety and instruction.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions – most people are more than happy to lend a helping hand.

Equine Unlimited 2010 Show Schedule
